Stretch Mark Serum

White, long-standing stretch marks will not disappear with a serum or cream. If they bother you, a dermatologist can tell you about medical options. The serum still keeps the skin moisturised and soft.

The Serum is light and absorbs quickly; it contains niacinamide, glycerin and hyaluronic acid. The Cream is richer and keeps skin moisturised for longer, so stretching skin feels comfortable and supple. They work best as a pair. If you choose one: for newer marks, the Serum; to keep skin moisturised as your bump grows, or for older marks, the Cream.

Twice a day after a bath, on clean skin that is damp but not wet, so it absorbs well. With the Cream: apply a little serum first, wait until it has absorbed and no longer feels tacky, then follow with a little cream. Too much of either leaves skin sticky. You can use powder on top once both have absorbed.

Your tummy, arms, thighs and around the breasts. It is not meant to be swallowed, so if you use it near the breasts while breastfeeding, wash the area clean before a feed. Keep it off the face and the underarms (our Dry Serum Deodorant is made for underarm skin), and do not apply it to open wounds or fresh surgical scars.

It contains niacinamide, which helps skin look more even in tone, with glycerin and hyaluronic acid to hold moisture. You can use it on areas that darken in pregnancy, such as the tummy, thighs and neck folds, and on the dark line down the belly (linea nigra). This darkening is common, comes from pregnancy hormones, and often fades by itself after birth. Keep the area clean and dry, do not scrub it, and use the serum twice a day after a bath.

Not on scabs, open skin or burns; wait until the skin has closed, and see a doctor about a burn. On marks that have darkened and fully closed, you can use it to moisturise and help the skin look more even. It is not for raised or textured scars, such as surgical scars or keloids.

No. Stretch marks and cellulite are different things, and this serum is not made for cellulite or for acne. For cellulite, ask a doctor or a clinic; for spots on the body, see a pharmacist or doctor.

Changes in how skin looks build over time. Several things affect what you see: how often you use it (twice a day after a bath), gaining or losing weight quickly, hormonal changes, building muscle quickly, and corticosteroid creams or tablets, which make skin less able to stretch. Keep using it twice a day.

Many people choose fragrance-free products in pregnancy to lower the chance of irritation. This serum contains a fragrance from natural sources, at a low level, for a soft scent. It also contains glycerin, aloe vera and bisabolol, which moisturise. If your skin is very sensitive, or you would rather have no fragrance at all, go with what you prefer.

Both are common skincare ingredients, and this serum is formulated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3; mugwort extract is there to moisturise dry skin. If you have read advice to avoid an ingredient, check what amount and what kind of product the advice was about, and if you are unsure, show the ingredient list to your doctor.

Better not to mix them directly, especially across brands, as that can change the texture and how well it absorbs. If you want to keep using a stretch mark oil, use it at a different time of day, or wait until the serum has absorbed completely.

Skin on the thighs, breasts and arms can feel itchy for many reasons, including hormone changes, stretching, tight clothes and hot weather. Stop using the serum for now. A cool compress and loose, soft clothes help skin feel more comfortable; try not to scratch. If it settles once you stop, your skin may not agree with one of the ingredients. If it has not improved after 3 days, or it gets worse, see a doctor.

Stretch marks and skin colour both change during pregnancy, so marks can look darker for a while. If the darker colour comes with redness, itching or stinging, stop using the serum and see a doctor. If there is no redness or itching, you can carry on.

It is formulated for use during pregnancy, while breastfeeding and after birth. Men and women who are not pregnant can use it too, including teenagers from 16. If you have lupus or another long-term condition, ask your doctor first, and never apply it to open skin. It is not for babies or children. It can be used on stretch marks from pregnancy, weight gain or growth.
